Job title: Senior Supply Chain Planner – Italian Speaking
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Based on experience + KPI bonus post probation
Location: Cheshunt
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Who is Salvo?
We’re Salvo—proud to be the UK’s leading online Italian food wholesaler. Our story began in 1968, when our founder, Salvatore Cumbo, spotted a simple but powerful opportunity: helping London’s growing Italian restaurant scene source truly authentic ingredients. What started at his kitchen table soon became Britain’s first fine Italian food importing business.
Rooted in family values and a deep love for good food, Salvo has grown from a local supplier into a nationwide operation with four depots and a tech-enabled platform serving restaurants, pizzerias, hotels, and delis across the UK.
We’ve kept the warmth and personal touch of our early days while embracing innovation—whether that’s through our user-friendly app, late cut-off times, or expert customer care team. And yes, Salvatore’s original kitchen table still sits in our head office, reminding us of where it all began.
If you're excited to be part of a company with heritage, heart, and a bold vision for the future of food, we’d love to hear from you.
The role
We’re now looking for an Italian speaking Senior Supply Chain Planner, based out of our Cheshunt depot, to help take our operations to the next level. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving problems, and have a passion for getting things where they need to be—this could be the role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll play a central role in keeping our supply chain running smoothly—from forecasting demand to coordinating international deliveries. Your focus will be on maintaining stock accuracy, minimising waste, and ensuring our customers receive fresh, high-quality products on time.
In addition to managing day-to-day supply planning, you’ll also lead and develop our Supply Chain Coordinator, helping them grow in their role and supporting their progression through regular coaching, training, and performance feedback.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage product shelf-life, and reduce scrappage.
- Demand Forecasting: Use Eazystock and ERP tools to plan for seasonal trends and customer demand.
- Supply Planning: Raise purchase orders, manage supplier lead times, and ensure import compliance.
- Inbound Logistics: Coordinate with hauliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to deliver efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Line-manage the Supply Chain Coordinator—supporting their development and enabling them to take on greater responsibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to stay ahead of demand and resolve any issues fast.
- Reporting & Improvements: Identify ways to improve processes and track KPIs to keep performance on point.
What We’re Looking For
- You’re a strong communicator, a confident planner, and someone who’s comfortable managing complexity.
- You’re able to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing needs, and enjoy getting stuck into the detail.
- Experience in supply or demand planning in a food or FMCG environment
- Knowledge of EU imports and UK customs processes (post-Brexit expertise is a plus)
- Line management or supervisory experience or a clear interest in team development
- NAV / Business Central experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills and experience with planning tools like Eazystock
- Proactive mindset and excellent attention to detail
- High proficiency in both written and verbal Italian language, due to the need to liaise daily with our Italian suppliers
Please note: During the training and probation period, the successful candidate will need to split their time between our Cheshunt depot and our office in Herne Hill, South London (near Brixton). Travel costs to the London office will be covered during this time.
Hybrid working options will be agreed post probation, we expect most of this initial period to be office-based to ensure you gain proper exposure to our operation and ways of working.
